Vaginal HIFU with Ultra Vera: Focused Ultrasound Without Incisions

HIFU vaginal tightening at S Women's Clinic uses Ultra Vera HIFU, a probe that focuses ultrasound into tiny heated points inside the vaginal wall, with no incision. It is designed to prompt gradual collagen remodeling where laxity is mild. Dr. Hye-Yeon Lee, a female OB/GYN specialist, examines you and gives the session of about 20 minutes herself. Evidence is still limited, and results vary.

Some looseness of the vaginal canal after vaginal birth, or with the hormonal shifts of later life, is common and is not an illness. How much it matters differs from one woman to the next, and many never look for treatment at all. The women who ask about vaginal HIFU usually describe a mild change and want something that involves no surgery, no stitches and no time off.
- A slight feeling of looseness since childbirth, with no bulge and no leaking
- Wanting a non-surgical step to try first, while accepting that the evidence is limited
- A short stay in Seoul with no room in the schedule for a healing period
When vaginal HIFU is the wrong choice
Treatment is postponed during pregnancy and while a vaginal infection or unexplained bleeding is being looked into. A bulge at the vaginal opening, a heavy dragging feeling, or urine escaping when you cough or run suggests pelvic organ prolapse or stress incontinence. Each of these needs its own medical work-up, and the clinic does not offer focused ultrasound for them.
When laxity is marked, for example after several deliveries with a perineum that healed thin, focused ultrasound is unlikely to meet the expectation. Dr. Hye-Yeon Lee will tell you so and explain what vaginoplasty for women (vaginal tightening surgery) involves instead. She may also suggest waiting if you are hoping for a change that can be promised in advance, or if the wish for treatment comes mainly from someone else.
How Ultra Vera HIFU works: focused ultrasound at three depths
HIFU stands for high-intensity focused ultrasound; the form used inside the vagina is also called micro-focused ultrasound. Sound waves pass through the lining and converge at one point a set distance below the surface. At that focus the energy turns into heat and leaves a tiny zone of thermal coagulation, while the tissue the beam crosses on its way in receives much less energy. The body repairs these points over the following weeks by laying down new collagen, and that slow repair is the change the treatment aims for.
The device is Ultra Vera HIFU, made by Hironic in Korea. Its probe takes interchangeable cartridges, and each one is fixed to a single focal depth:
- S1.5 cartridge: 7.0 MHz, focused 1.5 mm below the surface of the lining
- M3.0 cartridge: 7.0 MHz, focused 3.0 mm deep
- D4.5 cartridge: 4.0 MHz, focused 4.5 mm deep, the deepest setting, since a lower frequency travels further into tissue
Working through the three depths lets the doctor place heat points in several layers of the wall, around the circumference of the canal. The number of points delivered in one visit is counted in shots, and the fee schedule lists sessions of 300 and 600 shots.
An Ultra Vera HIFU session, step by step
- Consultation and a pelvic examination with Dr. Hye-Yeon Lee, who checks that HIFU fits your situation
- You settle on the treatment chair, gel is applied, and the slim probe is placed in the vagina
- The probe is moved and turned in small steps along the walls, one cartridge depth at a time
- After about 20 minutes the probe is removed, and you dress and leave
What Ultra Vera HIFU is, and what it is not
It is an ultrasound treatment. It is not a laser and it is not radiofrequency: no light beam is aimed at the surface and no electric current runs through the tissue. Nothing is cut, removed or stitched, so it cannot reshape the vaginal opening or rebuild the perineum the way surgery can. It is also a separate machine from the Shurink HIFU used on the outer labia, which is a facial device.

Ultra Vera HIFU price in South Korea
- Ultra Vera HIFU, 300 shots: ₩500,000 before VAT, ₩550,000 with VAT
- Ultra Vera HIFU, 600 shots: ₩900,000 before VAT, ₩990,000 with VAT
Each line is the fee for a single session. The clinic writes its fee schedule without VAT, so the second amount, with 10% VAT added, is what you pay at the desk. Foreign visitors can no longer reclaim VAT on cosmetic procedures; that refund scheme closed on December 31, 2025.
Which shot count suits you is decided after the examination, from the area to be covered and how the tissue looks, and a higher count does not promise a larger change. The fee schedule also has packages pairing Ultra Vera HIFU with other non-surgical treatments, and the team can include those prices in your quote.
The first week after vaginal HIFU
- Day 0
Session of about 20 minutes. Warmth or mild cramping can follow; daily activities resume and you can fly home the same day.
- Day 1
A light, watery discharge may appear for a day or two; a panty liner is enough.
- Day 3
Any soreness has usually eased by now. If it is getting worse instead, message the doctor.
- Day 7
Rising pain, a fever or bleeding should be checked by a doctor straight away, at home if you have already flown.

Ultra Vera HIFU risks and the limits of the evidence
Focused ultrasound is still an energy treatment, and the doctor goes through these possibilities with you ahead of the session:
- Warmth, aching or cramping during the session and for a short time afterwards
- A temporary watery discharge
- Tenderness, including brief discomfort during intercourse
- Burns or blistering of the vaginal lining, a known risk of energy devices, which can leave scarring
- No noticeable change at all, since response differs from woman to woman
Published research is thin. A 2022 study gave 20 women two sessions with this device and recorded higher scores on laxity and vaginal health measures afterwards, but it had no comparison group, and its authors call for further research (Kolczewski et al., 2022). A 2024 review of non-invasive options for vaginal laxity found that how well these devices work, and by what mechanism, is still unclear (Eid et al., 2024). A European position statement from the same year judged the evidence too weak to support routine use of vaginal laser devices (Giarenis et al., 2024). We cannot promise how much change you will notice, or how long it would last.
The doctor who consults you is the one who operates.

Vaginal HIFU questions from international patients
Will the doctor who examines me give the HIFU treatment herself?
Yes. Dr. Hye-Yeon Lee, a Korean board-certified OB/GYN specialist who has practiced near Gangnam Station since 2008, does the examination, operates the Ultra Vera HIFU probe herself and answers your questions on the day. She is the only doctor at the clinic, so the treatment is never handed to someone you have not met.
Can I fly home on the day of my vaginal HIFU session?
Yes. Travel home on the same day is possible once your visit is finished, as there is no incision and daily activities resume straight away. On a long-haul flight, wear loose clothing, walk the aisle now and then and drink water, and message the doctor if any discomfort grows after you land.
When can I have sex again after HIFU vaginal tightening?
The clinic's guidance allows intercourse from the same day, because there is no wound to heal. If the area feels tender or you notice discharge, waiting a few days is sensible. Pain during intercourse that does not settle within a few days is a reason to message the doctor.
Are the Ultra Vera HIFU prices shown with or without VAT?
Both. Each session fee is listed first without VAT, the way the clinic's fee schedule is written, and then with 10% VAT added, which is the amount charged. The VAT refund for foreign visitors on cosmetic procedures ended with 2025, so budget for the VAT-inclusive figure.
Can I book and consult in English?
Yes. You can ask questions and book in English through the form on this page or on WhatsApp, and we will get back to you as soon as possible. On the day of your visit, the clinic can look after you in English, from the examination through to the treatment.
What happens if I need to cancel or move my HIFU appointment?
The clinic has no written deposit policy. If your booking needs a deposit, current practice is that it stays on the booking when you change the date, it is refunded when you cancel ahead of the treatment day, and a cancellation on the day itself is not refunded. Ask the team to confirm the terms before you pay.
Is “HIFU vaginal rejuvenation” the same thing as Ultra Vera HIFU?
It is a search phrase for the same kind of treatment. Ultra Vera HIFU is the name of the device, which focuses ultrasound into small heated points in the vaginal wall. The clinic does not use the word rejuvenation in its own descriptions, because it suggests more than the published studies can show.
Does vaginal HIFU hurt?
Each pulse is usually felt as a brief point of heat or a prickling sensation, and the whole session lasts about 20 minutes. How discomfort will be handled, and whether anything is needed for it, is agreed with Dr. Hye-Yeon Lee at consultation. Tell her at once if a pulse feels sharply painful, and she will adjust or stop.
Is this the same HIFU device used on the labia majora?
No. The outer labia are treated with a different device, Shurink, which is registered for facial use. Ultra Vera HIFU is a vaginal probe with its own cartridges, so the two are not interchangeable and are priced separately. The doctor tells you at consultation which one, if either, fits your concern.
I leak a little urine when I sneeze. Will vaginal HIFU help with that?
It is not offered for that. Leaking when you cough or sneeze is usually stress urinary incontinence, which needs its own assessment, and pelvic floor muscle training is the usual first step. Dr. Hye-Yeon Lee can examine you and tell you where to turn, while HIFU sessions here are planned around laxity alone.
